Artwork Guidelines

Resolution –  Images from the internet  may look blurry when published as they are usually 72dpi resolution. All images used in your art file should be at least 300dpi (dots per inch) to ensure good quality printing.

File formats - recommended to be supplied as PDF.

Colour -Art files that are submitted should be saved in CMYK to help ensure color accuracy. If files are submitted as RGB or PMS, the colours will be converted to CMYK which may cause some variances in the printed colour. Best Price Printing will not be responsible for any colour variations.

Fonts To prevent text of graphics dropping out from artwork, fonts, transparencies and other effects need to be flattened with outlining of fonts when used in vector format softwares such as InDesign and Illustrator.

Bleed There needs to be a 3mm bleed on all sides of your artwork with illustrations and text kept 3mm  inside that line to allow for safe trimming. So keep your critical text and illustrations  at least 6mm inside from the edge of your supplied artwork so you don't lose any important components of your work.

Proofs                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        You must thoroughly inspect the proof you receive and correct any errors, as it is a preview of your press-ready file. Confirm layout, text and content before your order goes to print. We rely on your thorough inspection of the proof to detect and correct errors. Orders will not go to print until we receive your proof approval.

Proof variations                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Online PDF proofs.  PDF proofs may not provide an accurate color representation of the final printed work and may further vary due to the variation in monitor colors and adjustments. Online proofs may appear "pixelized" as they are optimized for fast web downloads.  The final printed pieces will not appear in this manner, provided that the customer supplied artwork complies with our Artwork Guidelines.

Digital Hard-copy proofs/color proofs are produced by digital printer. without trimming and binding. Because of differences in equipment, paper, inks, and other conditions between color proofing and production pressroom operations, a "pleasing color" variation between color proofs and the completed job [as determined by generally accepted trade technical methods] is to be expected. When such a variation occurs, it will be considered acceptable performance.

Press proofs/ wet proofs are produced by offset press, and same equipment, paper and process as mass product. However, we print to industry-wide "pleasing color" standards using standard ink densities. Also, paper brightness, paper type, applied coatings and ambient light can and will affect color. A sample is 85% - 95% color accurate

When will my proofs be ready?                                                                                                                                                                                                                            PDF proofs are usually available in 48-72hours after we receive the files.

Proofing checks                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Are all the pages included in the proof?; Are the pages in the proper order & page numbers correct?; Are all images/photos included and in proper placement?; Is the final trim size measure correct; Are the folds accurate.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Image Quality - Check Proof to ensure that images are good quality; photos are cropped correctly; all photos are facing the proper direction; there is good contrast in photos and graphics; there is colour placement and consistency throughout the pages and that the colours are accurate.

Check general accuracy of fonts, bleeds, and crossovers:    Are all fonts correct?; Is the text crisp & spaced properly?; Are there any missing characters or broken type?; Are the margins & page alignment(s) correct?; Do the bleeds extend beyond the trim marks (they should).

Double check set-up and print specifications: Verify any finishing elements like die-cuts, embossing, foils, varnishes, etc.; Confirm the weight and color of the final paper stock.

View this proof as if it was your finished product. Once this proof has been approved your order is then verified and cannot be stopped, altered or cancelled.

Other things                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Sometimes "L's" and "I's" appear bold and thick on the proof? This can show on low resolution proofs due to converting fonts to outlines. If you zoom in on your proof, they will appear as usual. The letters will print normally.

Viewing files on my monitor? The colours on the printed piece may not exactly match the colors seen on a computer monitor. Colours on a monitor cannot give the same affect as the colours on the printed ink product.

Files must be received in CMYK colours. If files containing any other colour format are received i.e. RGB, Lab, HSB, they will still be printed and may not be reproduced in accord with you expectations. will not be repsonsible for any colour variations or errors.
